100 Years of Antique Quilts:

1830-1930

 

A lecture and trunk show of antique quilts made between 1830-1930. Details of printed fabrics, dyes, and patterns will be discussed showing the variation of quilts over time and the years they were made.  Trunk show will consist of 12-15 quilts.

 

This lecture is $400 plus mileage. 

Blended Quilts

 

A lecture and trunk show of my "blended quilts" showing the use of antique quilt blocks combined with new fabrics of today. This is an opportunity to allow those wonderful antique quilt blocks to "grow up" into a fabulous quilt today.

Playthings by the Yard

 

A lecture and trunk show about early panel or "cut 'n sew" dolls printed in the late 1800s/early 1900s and their importance to the textile industry. Examples of original panels and dolls will be shown.

Ravishing Reds & Glorious Greens: Quilts of the 19th Century

 

This is a unique 90 minute “duet” lecture conducted by myself and Teddy McMahon Pruett.  This is a discussion on fugitive red and green dyes while viewing incredible 19th century red & green quilts, tops and blocks.  

 

This lecture is $600 plus mileage. 

The Women Beneath and Behind the Quilts

 

A lecture and trunk show of several antique quilts and the stories of the women who made those quilts. Lecture will also include a short discussion of how quilts were signed by their makers and the importance of labeling our own quilts today.
